How Do You Know You Need to Loose Weight



Being over weight is the new epidemic of all western countries, especially the United States. When you walk along the street you can see many people who should be loosing weight. Are you one of them?

Often a person will be a “medium sized person” for many years, but when approaching middle age he or she may be starting to gain weight. In the beginning, this person will be a bit worried, but life goes on and he will ignore the signs. Going on diet or taking upon you a weight loss program is not an easy task, and some people prefer to avoid it. Sometimes you just compare yourself to people around you, and you will always find some people that are fatter than you are. So you assure yourself the situation is not that bad.

Sometimes, it is very obvious you need to loose weight. If you are obese, it is obviously time to loose weight. Different health care programs may have different definitions for obese; though once you are thirty or forty pounds overweight it is quite clear you are obese. If you are obese, the main problem is not your appearance, but your health. Being obese puts you in risk for various health complications. If you want to enjoy your life for many more years, don’t let yourself stay in an obese state. If you are obese, you MUST loose weight.

Another sign you should start loosing weight is that people tell you so. Whether it is your physician or your significant other or your friends, once people start telling you that you should loose weight, it is often time to do so. Sometimes things are clearer to people around you while you are still trying to ignore the signs. It may be embarrassing to hear from you physician or friend that you have to loose weight, but remember this is for your own good. It is not just a question of good appearance; it is the quality of your life that is affected by your being over weight.

One more sign is when your clothes don’t fit you any more. If you are a person that buys new cloths very often you may notice it less. Though when you can’t get into your favorite pants or dress you will realize things are getting out of hand. For some people, this may be the trigger: They love this particular outfit, and not being able to wear it anymore will make them get to the final decision.

Whatever it was that made you realize you are over weight, don’t ignore the signs. If you have to loose weight, get yourself into some weight loosing program. Eat less, exercise more. That is the key.
